I took this photo at the Cloquet Islands Scenic Overlook park in Dayton. If you follow a somewhat rocky path down to the river, you can find a beautiful floodplain forest. Other times I have been here this whole area has been flooded, but it was much lower this time, so I walked along the mud for awhile. I tried to make sure this photo captured how it felt then; dark and damp, with the setting sun lighting up the trees ahead.
This photo was taken in Anoka, MN. I decided to take some pictures one night, and went down to an area of town I knew could be scenic, for the sunset. I was trying to take some that just showed the whole of this building lit up by the sun, but then I started playing with the composition some. I found that I could align some of the buildings edgeswith shapes in the trees, and liked how the colors contrasted.
I took this photo of some sumac at a small park in Andover, Minnesota. Sumac grows all over the place in the summer, and I have always liked it because it has a unique structure. The wavy tangle of branches is very distinctive. I hadn’t been taking many photos for awhile, so I decided to take my camera with and make sure I took one of something. After looking around, this seemed to be a good choice.
